From October 12 to November 17, Carpintarias de São Lázaro - Cultural Center hosts the exhibition "Ensaios Domésticos" by MOB Projects, as part of the Associated Projects - Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
MOB is an international incubator and furniture producer, designed by artists and architects. Based in Lisbon and Santiago de Chile, MOB Projects invites both emerging and established creators from different parts of the world to submit proposals for furniture pieces. The aim is to establish interdisciplinary intersections around the collective, domestic and rational condition of architects and artists' practice, such as furniture design.
In the attempt to turn architecture and art into a shareable and understandable language, the furniture appears as a common ground for research, critique and experimentation of new practices. Through a tactile and close dimension, they generate a series of questions around the interior space and the relationship of objects with the common world and domestic user.
Through rationality, it is possible to achieve a contemporary interpretation of the world and develop a theory of society. This project is a tool to achieve these goals by exploring proximity between its creators and people.
Founded by Eduardo Corales, Javier Toro Blum and Piedad Aguilar, MOB aims to overcome boundaries focusing on a particular expression within art, design, and architecture, from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The teams invited to participate in "Ensaios Domésticos" are:
