TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,
Exhibition by João Bragança Gil
15.05.2026 - 19.07.2026
The fourth solo exhibition by João Bragança Gil (Lisbon, 1989), “to whom it may concern,” is on display at Carpintarias de São Lázaro from 15 May to 19 July, 2026. Functioning as an open letter cast into the depths of servers, infiltrating the fissures of the digital landscape, questioning its promises, ruins and ghosts. The exhibition calls on a research project in which Bragança Gil brings together traces, sculptures, artefacts, video installations and electro-engraved images, composing an unstable territory where memory and simulation intermingle.
Virtual utopian euphoria gives way to a diffuse disillusionment, in a kaleidoscopic and unsettling environment, where echoes of obsolete systems and failed promises persist. Amidst surfaces that seem to breathe and fragments of a decaying archive, the cyber hangover emerges — a state suspended between seduction and decay — revealing the post-utopian disillusionment of a virtual naivety that cannot be sustained, yet persists as a haunting.
